About Me
I am a first-year Graduate student in the MSHE program at California State University, Fullerton. For the last few years, my aspiration was to attend this program at CSUF. I wanted to become a member of this community to learn the many skills and virtues necessary to help other students fulfill their own educational dreams.
I have experienced higher education from various perspectives.
As a freshman, I was a bewildered community college student. As a senior, I was an alienated Latino student in colossal lecture halls at UCLA, composed primarily of Asian and Caucasian students. Now, as a staff member, I have witnessed the many injustices and racist effects of a Trump-era college. These experiences strengthened my commitment to the equitable inclusion of all students, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, age, political affiliation, or socioeconomic status. I believe that education must meet students’ individual hardships through equitable practices that provide support and resources where they are needed.
My career goal is to help establish these practices in education by shifting my career into a community college student affairs wing. My first objective is to become a coordinator within the student services division. I will then use that experience and knowledge to reach a program leader role in student support services. I plan to continue my education via a Doctorate in Education and aspire to become a Director or Dean within the Student Support and Services Division.
